Nigeria To Roll Out 5G Technology Soon – NCC

   


    The Federal Government is set to begin the roll-out of fifth-generation (5G) services across the country. Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta, made the announcement on Friday at a public inquiry on the instruments necessary for the deployment of the technology.

WhatsApp new feature to allows users send and receive messages without phone


    Whatsapp has now released a new feature that has been the talk of the tech community for a long time. 

   According to Facebook engineers, the new feature would allow for the hugely popular service be used on multiple “non-phone” devices without needing to connect to the smartphone app.

Rwanda launches first 'Made in Africa' smartphones

 

   Rwanda’s Mara Group launched two smartphones on Monday, describing them as the first “Made in Africa” models and giving a boost to the country’s ambitions to become a regional technology hub. The Mara X and Mara Z will use Google’s Android operating system and cost 175,750 Rwandan francs ($190) and 120,250 Rwandan francs ($130) respectively.

    An indigenous company says it is intensifying efforts to begin assembling of solar cars by 2020. Mr Moses Onaja, Chief Executive Officer, Sun Energy Community Development Initiative (SECODI), made the disclosure on Tuesday during an exhibition of solar products  in Ibadan.

(TECHNOLOGY) Google To Empower 3 Nigerian Startups, Others

 
  Three Nigerian startups namely – 54Gene, ScholarX, and WellaHealth – have made the list of 12 African startups shortlisted by Google to take part in the third edition of its Launchpad Accelerator Africa programme. As part of its commitment to growing emerging businesses in Africa, Google has announced the 12 African startups to take part in the capacity-building and empowerment programme.

  The programme, which starts on April 1, 2019, involves startups from six African countries, namely: Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and Uganda. Of these 12 startups, six have female co-founders and nine are either AI-enabled or have AI potential.

   These four students (Ekeh Isidore, Kizito Onyema, Aloysius Nwokedike, John Kenedy Kalu) constructed a quadcopter surveillance drone for the university campus as a school project. With a wood constructed Controller and First Person View (FPV) system, the drone pilot sees the video footage of the campus in real time.

World’s First Formation Flying Nano Satellites Developed by Israeli Scientists


  Three nano-satellites developed by scientists at Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, will be the world’s first to be flown in formation.

   The project, developed with the collaboration of the French Adelis-Samson Foundation and the Israeli Space Agency (ISA), will be launched on the Indian launcher PSLV at the end of 2018 by the Dutch company Innovative Solutions In Space, which has a specialization in launching Nano-satellites.

Robot performs first ever dental surgery on human



    A woman in China recently became the first person to have oral surgery performed solely by a robot. Although human doctors were in the room for the procedure, the robot autonomously implanted two teeth into the patient’s mouth using preprogrammed directions, according to the South China Morning Post.
