The Senate President,
Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu have felicitated with the
Christian faithful in the country as they celebrate Christmas today.
He said this in a
statement by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, urged
Nigerians to use this yuletide season to rededicate themselves to the service
of humanity in line with the true teachings of Jesus Christ which emphasizes
selflessness, piety, brotherly kindness and love towards one another.
Ekweremadu in a
statement by his media aide, Uche Anichukwu called on Nigerians to show love to
their neighbours at Christmas, as that remains the fundamental message of the
yuletide.
The Senator, who said
Christmas would be empty without acts of love as shown by Christ, also observed
that love was also engrained in African cultures.
Also, the Speaker of
the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has felicitated with Christians on
the occasion of the marking of the birth of Jesus Christ.
In a statement by his
Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan, the speaker urged
Christians to walk in Christ’s footsteps of love and peace towards one another,
their neigbours and to humanity as a whole.
Also, the immediate
past Senate President, Senator David Mark has canvassed for religious tolerance
among Nigerians, saying that it will be the antidote to the occasional
conflicts.
Mark in his Christmas
message, signed by his media assistant, Paul Mumeh, stressed that religious
harmony, peace and unity are the needed ingredients for development to thrive.
