According to Dailytrust, Commander, 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Sokoto Brigadier General Gijikanwa Nwosu has directed the immediate ban on sale of illicit drugs and other illegal substances at the Giginya Barracks Mammy market, Sokoto.
He also directed the sealing off of all shops dealing with such items in the market. This was contained in a statement by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Captain Umar Shuaib on Saturday. "The Commander is hereby assuring the Sokoto state Government, the Sultanate Council and the entire people of Sokoto that no stone will be left unturned in restoring the values and traditions of the Seat of the Caliphate", he stated.
He also said that the move was also in cognizance of the ethos and values of the Nigerian Army.
