Delta State Chief Judge orders payment of monthly stipend to Asagba of Asaba stopped

    Delta State Chief Judge, Justice Marshal Umukoro, has ordered the payment of monthly stipend to His Royal Highness, Professor Joseph Edozien, the Asagba of Asaba be stopped.

   According to a statement issued by the Head, Protocol/Public Relations, High Court of Justice, Asaba, Agbaragu Timothy, said the order was issued following a suit and motion on notice for an order of interlocutory injunction filed by His Majesty, Anthony Onwuka, the Akor of Oko Anala.
    Akor of Oko Anala, had approached the court, claiming that the Asagba of Asaba had refused to disburse money meant for traditional rulers in the area between December 2012 and May 2016.
   The Chief Judge, while delivering a ruling on the motion for an order of interlocutory injunction, said the hearing and determination of the suit against the Asaba monarch will come up on February 16, 2017.
