It came to an end for the mercurial Victor Ezeji when he played in his last game, at the testimonial match in Port Harcourt on Saturday, to end his 20 years of playing football.
Ezeji, a legend of the Nigeria Professional Football League, is mostly known for winning two African League championships with Enyimba, but it his longevity of 20 years that is really amazing.
In two decades he played for:
1996 Sharks F.C.
1997–1999 Eagle Cement
2000–2002 Sharks F.C.
2003 Enyimba F.C.
2004–2007 Dolphins F.C.
2007-2008 Club Africain
2008-2012 Sharks F.C.
2013-2014 Enyimba FC
2014-2015 Sunshine Stars FC
2015-2015 Heartland FC
This makes him the undisputed most travelled player in Nigerian football history, having now surpassed the equally impressive Thunder Balogun.
