World Cup 2034 set to be held in Saudi Arabia

   



   Saudi Arabia is set to host the 2034 World Cup after Australia announced it would not bid to host the tournament. Earlier this month, the Kingdom presented a letter of intent to FIFA after football's governing body announced that only bidders from Asia and Oceania would be considered for 2034.


     Following the news of Football Australia's withdrawal, Saudi Arabia is unlikely to face any competition. 'We have explored the opportunity to bid to host the FIFA World Cup and - having taken all factors into consideration - we have reached the conclusion not to do so for the 2034 competition,' Football Australia said in a statement.

The Chelsea striker has been the subject of interest from the Saudi Pro League amidst their European top-flight recruitment drive, which has seen them sound out a moves for a number of the player’s team-mates at his parent club.

The German club announced the Guinean's arrival on a free transfer on Friday, with Keita returning to Germany after his previous spell with RB Leipzig.     Lionel Messi has reportedly decided to join Inter Miami with the move set to be announced within the next few hours.

 

   According to Guillem Balague, Messi has made the decision to head to the South Florida-based club. He said Messi will link up with the Florida-based outfit once his PSG contract expires at the end of June.

FIFA suspends India Football Federation over undue influence from third parties

   



   India's Football Federation has been suspended by the world's football governing body, FIFA due to "undue influence from third parties". The suspension by FIFA threatens the country's hosting of the Under-17 Woms World Cup, in October.


India's highest court had disbanded the All India Football Federation (AIFF) in May and appointed a three-member committee to govern the sport despite FIFA rules stating that Fifa's member federations must be free from legal and political interference.

Nigeria may co-host the 2025 African cup of nations - Amaju Pinnick

     



  Nigeria and Benin Republic are likely co-host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick, has said. Guinea has been awarded the hosting rights for 2025 but Africa's football ruling body, CAF may likely strip Guinea of the hosting right of the biennial African football showpiece. According to Pinnick, CAF is on course to withdraw the hosting right from the West African country and Nigeria is working on a bid with Benin Republic. “We are putting a bid together for a co-hosting of the tournament with the Benin Republic,” Pinnick told Completesports.

Cristiano Ronaldo offered £250million megadeal to sign for a Saudi Arabian club

 



   


    Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been offered a £250million megadeal to finish his career in Saudi Arabia amid uncertainty over Manchester United future.


   An unnamed Middle East club is said to have apparently offered the 37-year-old an eye-watering amount of cash to join them. CNN Portugal say the club would not only pay United a transfer fee of around £25m to sign Ronaldo but they would offer him a salary in the region of £105m-per-season over two years.


    The lucrative package also includes £20m for Ronaldo's representative Jorge Mendes. United paid Juventus an initial £12.85m to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford last summer, with the player signing a two-year contract with the option of a third. Ronaldo is not currently with the rest of the United squad on their pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia on compassionate grounds.

2023 Africa Cup of Nations moved to 2024 due to rainy season- CAF

 


  2023 African Cup of Nations, AFCON initially scheduled for Côte d’Ivoire next June will now be held in January and February 2024 due to the concerns over the rainy season in the country. CAF President, Patrice Motsepe, made the announcement at a press conference held in Morocco  on Sunday, July 3.  “The 2023 AFCON will now be played between January and February 2024,” Mostepe told the media.


   “This is one of the issues we discussed during our congress meeting here in Morocco and the official dates will be communicated later. “It is after deliberations we came into the decision, we have partners and even though we make decisions, it is out of respect that we take the advice we are getting that we cannot take a risk (to host the tournament) and so that is why we have made the necessary announcement today (Sunday).

Sunday Oliseh appointed new coach of German Club, SV Straelen

   



   Former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh, has been appointed new head coach of German Regionalliga West club Sav Straelen. According to the club’s president Hermann Tecklenburg, the 47-year-old former Nigeria international has already signed a one-year contract to handle the side and will start work this week.

President Buhari directs NFF to amend statutes, hold elections in September

 



   President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) to immediately commence the process that will lead to elections into its executive committee at the expiration of the current administration in September.

Buhari also directed that the instrument of football administration in the country, the NFF Statutes, be amended to include other stakeholders, who had hitherto been disenfranchised or denied equal representation in the NFF congress.

   FIFA have announced the cities that would host the 2026 World Cup in United States, Mexico and Canada. The 2026 showpiece will be the first World Cup co-hosted by three countries, and will also be the first World Cup to host 48 nations.

According to the world football governing body, 11 of the approved cities are in the United States, which will host 60 games, while Canada has two and Mexico has three. Canada and Mexico will both host ten games each.
