President Buhari to depart Abuja to Banjul, the capital of The Gambia today


 
    President Muhammadu Buhari would depart Abuja to Banjul, the capital of The Gambia today and later Bamako, the capital of Mali.

   According to reports, his mission to The Gambia is to meet with the outgoing President YahyaJammeh of The Gambia and the President-elect Adama Barrow in his capacity as the Chief Mediator for the Economic Community of West African State, ECOWAS in The Gambia’s political impasse to continue dialogue with the stakeholders.
   The President would be joined by President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia , President Ernest Koroma of Sierra Leone, and the immediate past President of Ghana, John Mahama, who is the co-meditator in The Gambian mission.
    Later in the day, the President will also travel to Bamako, Mali to participate in the 27th Africa–France Summit.
    In a statement by the Presidential spokesman,  Femi Adesina yesterday  in Abuja stated that ” The Summit for Partnership, Peace and Emergence, convened by French President Francois Hollande, is aimed at strengthening cooperation between France and African countries in the areas of peace and security, economic partnership and development.”
