Confederation of African Football turn downs Nigerian referees for U20 Africa Cup of Nations

 

   The football ruling body in Africa has announced the list of referees to officiate at the 2017 U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Zambia with no Nigerian making the list.


  According to the list released on the Confederation of African Football website, 26 referees were selected from 22 African countries to officiate in the 20th edition of the championship.

   Twelve centre referees and 14 assistant referees will handle matches at the eight-nation continental championship scheduled to hold from 26thof  February to the 12th of  March 2017.

   Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Ndola and the National Heroes Stadium will host games in the competition, with hosts Zambia facing Guinea in the opening game on the 26th of February.

   It would be recalled that Nigeria failed to qualify after surrendering the ticket to Sudan in the third round of qualifiers.

   The top four teams will qualify for the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup in South Korea.
