Delta State Chief Judge Constitutes Local Government Appeal Tribunal

Delta State Local Government Appeal Tribunal, which is to hear and determine appeals from the judgments of the Local Government Election Tribunal, has been constituted by the Delta State Chief Judge, Justice Marshal Umukoro.

The tribunal has Justice Michael Obi as chairman, Justice Mabel Ogheneyero Omovie and Justice Catherine Ojugbana-Orishedere, as members.

Administering oath office to members of the tribunal in his office in Asaba, the Chief Judge charged the tribunal to see their appointment as a call to duty.

According to Justice Umukoro, his power to constitute the tribunal is derived from Schedule 5 of the Local Government Law Chapter D27 Laws of Delta State 2006, which provides that the Appeal Tribunal shall consist of three serving judges.

Responding on behalf of the members, the Chairman of the Appeal Tribunal, Justice Michael Obi, appreciated the Chief Judge for finding them worthy to serve, and promised to discharge their duties fairly and equitably as justice demands.
