NUPENG suspend its nationwide strike which began on April 2

Following the intervention of the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Dr Maikanti Baru, the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, has suspended its nationwide strike which began on April 2.

Baru described his intervention as being in the national interest, even as he announced the approval of the increase in bridging costs from N6.20 to N7.20.
He said the review will give Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners the breathing space to engage with Petroleum Tanker Drivers to immediately resolve many issues, adding that the gesture was expected to normalise relations between the unions.
Announcing the suspension of the strike, NUPENG’s National President, Igwe Achese, hailed the intervention of Ibe Kachikwu and Maikanti Baru in ensuring efficient supply and distribution of petroleum products across the country.
