Breaking News: Senate Steps Down Bill To Establish Peace Corps

The Nigeria National Assembly, NASS on Tuesday 2nd 2017, stepped down the bill to establish the Nigerian Peace Corps. Most lawmakers in the chambers opposed the passage of the bill. The set-back followed the presentation by the committee on the bill chaired by Bayero Nafada.

But rather than take votes for the bill’s passage for a third reading, the lawmakers including Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, stood against its passage. They cited the lawsuit involving the head of the Peace Corps and the police. As of now, the bill to establish Nigeria Peace Corps has been stepped down till further notice.
