Nigeria’s Oshoala Wins African Women Player Of The Year Award

 Super Falcons Striker Asisat Oshoala has again been crowned the 2017 African Women player of the year. It is the third time in four years the Dalian Quanjian striker will be winning the award. She had won previously won it in 2014 and 2016. Compatriot Perpetual Nkwocha hold the record for most titles with four.

   The award caps a splendid year for Oshoala who had a splendid debut season in China. She won the award for best player in the Chinese Women Super League. The 23-year-old also scored 12 goals to lead her team to the tittle and win the golden boot. Oshoala rose to prominence at the 2014 FIFA U20 World Cup where she won the golden Boot as the tournament’s highest goal scorer and the Golden ball as the tournament’s best player.

   She was crowned the 2014 and 2016 African Women footballer of the year and 2015 BBC Women footballer of the year. The Nigerian became the first African player to compete Women Super League when she signed for Liverpool Ladies in 2015. She was also part of the Nigerian Team, which won the African Women Championship in December.
