Ex-Premier League Coach, George Ormond Jailed Over Sexual Abuse

An Ex-Premier League coach, George Ormond has been sentence to 20 years in jail by a Newcastle court over sexual abuse. Ormond, who was a destructive paedophile, worked with Newcastle United’s youth team in 1970 and 1980s before assisting the Premier League club in the 1990s.  The 62-year-old used his powers over vulnerable and ambitious boys as young as 11-years-old to sexually abuse them and keep them silent.

The Judge, Justice Edward Bindloss, sitting at Newcastle crown court on Tuesday said, ‘’Evidence showed that over a 25-year period, George Ormond was a man wholly preoccupied with sex who used his position as a respected football coach to target boys and young men in his care.” In 2002, he was jailed for six years for 12 indecent assaults on young players. He has now been convicted of 35 indecent assaults on Tuesday and one-count of indecency.
