Ortom To Announce Next Move Thursday

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has promised to announce his political movement after his meeting with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He called on PDP governorship aspirants in Benue not to dissipate energy on his reported defection. Ortom, who was reacting to the aspirants’ rejection of his return to the party, reiterated that he is a foundation member of the PDP, and does not need to consult with any aspirant before rejoining the party. The governor, who spoke through his media aide, Tahav Agerzua, said he was yet to declare his defection.

He said: “The governor does not need to seek their permission before joining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and he has not announced to anyone that he is rejoining the PDP. As of now, he is saying the National leadership of APC called him to a meeting on Thursday in Abuja, and he will make his final announcement after the meeting. So, I don’t know where those people got their information from. Maybe the aspirants feel their interest is threatened, but surely I don’t think they have the controlling power of the structure of PDP.”
