(LOCAL) Council Of State To discuss Minimum Wage Tuesday — Federal Government

 

   The Federal Government yesterday said the discussion on the new national minimum wage would terminate at the National Council of State on Tuesday.

   Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige said this at the end of the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting, presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

   The meeting which lasted for about two hours was attended by Governors of Zamfara, Lagos, Jigawa, Ekiti, Kebbi, Bauchi, Niger, Plateau and Adamawa states. He said discussions on how much will be paid are still ongoing and it will terminate on Tuesday when the Council of State.

    Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu confirmed that the minimum wage was discussed at the meeting. The organised labour had made the presentation of the new national minimum wage Bill to the National Assembly as a precondition for shelving its proposed nationwide strike scheduled to commence on January 28.
