Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party at the just concluded elections, has distanced himself from the GoFundMe account set up to support his case at the Election Petitions Tribunal.
His Special Assistant on Public Communications and Strategy, Mr Phrank Shaibu, disclosed this while reacting to reports of the account which stirred up heated debate on social media.
He said, “We do not know anything about it. We are not in any way connected to it but we consider it as a purely private initiative of the promoters.” At the moment, the loyalists have taken down the accont, but over $800 (N288,000) was raised before it was taken down.
