A woman was killed overnight in a shooting on Bourbon Street, authorities said early Thursday (May 16). Her name has not been released.
Around 12:15 a.m. Thursday, someone shot the woman in the face in the 900 block of Bourbon Street (map), according to the New Orleans Police Department. She was taken via EMS to a hospital, where she later died.
A man was detained at the scene by Louisiana State Police troopers and French Quarter Task Force officers for questioning. No arrests have been made as of 2:45 a.m., NOPD said. The crime scene is a busy stretch of Bourbon between Dumaine and St. Philips streets. The block is home to the 24-hour dinner The Clover Grill.
