Man exchanges boy for N48,000 rice

 

     Detectives are on the trail of a yet to be identified middle-aged man for allegedly depositing a 10-year-old boy whom he abducted in exchange for three bags of rice worth N48,000. The suspect allegedly abducted the boy while he was on an errand for his mother at Prince bus stop, Isheri Osun area of Lagos.

Customs generates N239.4bn in first quarter

 

    The Nigerian Custom Service (NCS), generated N239.4billion in the first three months of this year, figures obtained from the Federal Ministry of Finance have revealed. The amount was contained in a document obtained yesterday in Abuja, showing the activities of the ministry in the last two years. The NCS, according to the document, stated that its revenue performance for the first quarter of this year exceeded its target of N193.2billion.

Lyon complete €10 million deal for Chelsea striker Bertrand Traore

 

    Lyon have signed striker Bertrand Traore to a five-year deal from Chelsea for €10 million, the club announced. Traore, who scored 13 goals in 39 appearances at Ajax last season, becomes the third loanee to be sold by Chelsea in this transfer window following the £17m deal that made Juan Cuadrado’s stay at Juventus permanent and Christian Atsu’s £6m move to Newcastle.

Nigerian Rapper, Sauce Kid, Sentenced To Two Years Imprisonment In America For Stealing $15,388

 

    Nigerian rapper, Babalola Falemi, popularly known as Sauce Kid, is to spend the next two years in an American prison for stealing $15,388.

   Law enforcement agents caught up with him as he wanted to board a flight at Boise Airport in Idaho, United States of America. Falemi was said to have obtained stolen bank card numbers and identified information from their owners. He then encoded the account numbers onto blank plastic cards.

Governor Godwin Obaseki orders employment of 4,200 youths




   In line with his promise to create at least 200,000 jobs within 4 years, the Governor of Edo state,  Godwin Obaseki, has ordered the employment of 4,200 youths across the state under the Edo state public works programme from July 1st,2017.

Federal Government warns MDA’s against inflating personnel budgets


 

     The Federal Government has issued a warning to the chief executive officers of all its Ministries, Departments and Agencies against inflating their personnel budgets for the 2018 fiscal period.
    The move is part of the measures aimed at checking cases of ghost workers as well as reducing the rising wage bill, which accounted for about N1.88trillion of the recurrent non-debt expenditure of N2.99trillion in the 2017 budget.

School Fees Will Not Be Increased In Universities - ASUU

 
 
      The President of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi, has said that the union will resist any attempt to increase tuition fees in the country’s public universities. He also said ASUU could go on strike if the government failed to meet its demand on adequate funding of the institutions and payment of salaries.
