Nigerian Air Force helicopter crash lands in Enugu

 

   The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Thursday said its helicopter crashed in the process of landing in Enugu State.  A statement on NAF’s Official Twitter page, said that details of the incident which occurred after a routine flight on Thursday were still sketchy.

Bayelsa election will hold on saturday- INEC


    There is no going back in Saturday’s governorship election in Bayelsa State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said on Thursday. The commission said it would obey all legitimate court orders served on it in respect of the poll.

  The Federal High Court in Yenagoa on Thursday nullified the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries that produced Chief David Lyon as the party’s candidate . The judgment was on a case filed by one of the APC governorship aspirants, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri.

   INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye, told The Nation that the commission had deployed all it needed for the elections, adding that the polls would go on as planned. He said the election would go ahead with its plans for the election, using the materials already prepared before the judgment was given.  He said: “If there’s any court order concerning what we are doing, we will obey all court orders because that has been the tradition of the commission; to obey all legitimate court orders.”

Gernot Rohr writes off chances of Nigerian league players joining Super Eagles


     Super Eagles Head coach, Gernot Rohr has revealed his stance on the prospects of home based Nigerian players playing for the national team. Rohr guided Nigeria to an impressive 2-1 victory over Benin in Uyo on Wednesday as part of the Super Eagles' road to the 2021 African Nations Cup, but picked only 2 home based player in his 23 man contingent.

   The German tactician handed a late invitation to Enyimba defender Ifeanyi Anaemena after Lokomotiv Moscow's Brian Idowu withdrew from the squad. Anaemena and goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa were unused substitutes against Benin on Wednesday evening.

  The Nigeria Football Federation wants to offer Rohr a new four year deal, but only if the coach's contract includes a clause that will see him involve more home based players and go around Nigerian stadiums to monitor the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

NCC to deactivate automatic voicemail on existing phone lines


      Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, has ordered the Nigerian Communication Commission to deactivate automatic voicemail on existing phone lines. This is contained in a statement on Thursday and signed by the minister’s spokesperson, Uwa Suleiman.

Abducted appeal court Judge regains freedom

 

   The abducted Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme of the Benin Division of the Court of Appeal, has been released by her abductors after about two weeks in captivity.
