Why we placed visa restrictions on Nigerians – US

 

   The United States government on Sunday highlighted the reasons it imposed visa restrictions on Nigerians and nationals of five other countries. Other nations affected by the new visa regime are Eritrea, Myanmar, Tanzania, Sudan, and Kyrgyzstan.

    In the new arrangement announced on January 31, the US suspended the issuance of immigrant visas to Nigerian passport holders and it takes effect on February 21.

Fire guts INEC office In Anambra state

   The office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State has been gutted by fire. This was confirmed by police spokesperson in the state, Haruna Mohammed, on Sunday.

Maryam Sanda to die by hanging for killing husband

    Abuja High Court yesterday, sentenced Maryam Sanda to death by hanging for the murder of her husband, Bilyaminu Bello. In his judgment, Justice Yusuf Halilu, held that the prosecution established circumstantial evidence coupled with the testimony of Sanda and statement to the police that she “fatally” stabbed her husband dead in Abuja on November 19, 2017.

    The Lagos State Government has banned okada and tricycle riders in six Local Governments and nine Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs, of the state. The councils are:
