14 new coronavirus cases confirmed in Nigeria

 

   The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday night, confirmed 14 new cases of   coronavirus in the country. This was disclosed via a tweet on their verified Twitter page. “4 new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria: 2 in FCT, 12 in Lagos.

Lagos State To Sanitize Entire Lagos To Curb Spread Of COVID19

 

  Lagos state government has acquired disinfectant equipment to fumigate the entire state. These fumigation machines will be deployed to every part of the metropolis for sterilization of public spaces and surfaces.

Federal Government Considering To Stop Interstate, Inter-Town Travels


     The Federal Government has said that it is considering to stop inter-state and inter-town travels in the country.

    In a statement on Thursday, the Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says that the nation’s strategy at containing the pandemic is working, adding that the country still has a long way to go. While stressing that he does not mean to spread panic, the minister noted that bold measures have been taken and more steps of such nature need to be taken to ensure that Nigeria beats the virus.

UBA donates N5bn to battle Coronavirus in Africa

 

    The United Bank for Africa, UBA, has said it would provide N5 billion to the COVID-19 Relief Support across Africa. The bank said it would provide the money through the UBA Foundation. According to tweets on its twitter handle on Thursday, N1 billion of the fund would go to Lagos and N500 million to Abuja.

COVID-19: Kaduna imposes curfew from today's midnight

 

   Kaduna State Government has imposed curfew following what it called non-compliance to certain measures put in place to stop the spread of COVID-19.

   The Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, who made this known on Thursday, in the second state broadcast in two days, said that the decision is in line with the 1999 constitution. She also said churches and mosques will be shut and there will no congregational prayers or services either within the places of worship or outdoors.

   She warned that any worship centre that violates the order will have its title forfeited and site removed. According to her, the decision is ‘’in exercise of the powers vested in the Governor by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria1999, (as amended), Sections 2 and 8 of the Quarantine Act 1926 and the Kaduna State Public Health Law of 1917.’’
