   Globacom customers will henceforth be able to enjoy a day of free data once in a seven-day period as the company unveils an innovative offer that is aimed at delighting its subscribers. The offering, tagged Free Data Day, allows subscribers to access internet free of charge for a whole day once they meet the voice and/or data usage threshold within seven days.

Earth Quake Hits Greek And Turkish Resorts, Triggering Tsunami

     A powerful magnitude-6.7 quake has struck off the south west coast of Bodrum, Turkey, triggering a tsunami and leaving two people dead and hundreds more injured.

  The earthquake struck overnight. The tsunami that resulted thereof hit tourist resorts in the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, damaging buildings across the region, carrying away cars and depositing boats in town streets. Tourists fled their hotels in terror and some even jumped from balconies as they ran for their lives.

   Two male tourists - a 22-year-old from Sweden and a 39-year-old from Turkey - died on the Greek island of Kos after being crushed under a collapsed ceiling at the packed White Corner Club bar. Several others are injured with one tourist from Sweden losing both of his legs. A state of emergency had been declared on the island of Kos.

Chester Bennington Is Dead

 

   Chester Bennington has reportedly committed suicide at the age of 41. TMZ reports that the Linkin Park frontman hanged himself at a Palos Verdes Estates residence in Los Angeles County.

   Ogbonna Kanu and his wife, Laura Ikeji have both welcomed a son in the U.S. Laura gave birth in the early hours of today in a hospital in the US.

Housewife jailed for being pregnant for another man

 

    Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Friday sentenced one Rose James, 23, to two months in prison for adultery. The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave her N10,000 option of fine.

Senate vow to end LAUTECH crisis

 

    The Senate has vowed to bring to an end the crisis bedeviling the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) that led to the closure of the institution for almost two years.

  Speaking while receiving a delegation led by the president of LAUTECH Alumni Association, Professor Adewale Sunday, in Abuja, the President of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, described the continuous closure of the school as “pathetic and unacceptable.” Saraki, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Mohammed Isa, reiterated the commitment of the Senate to the quick resolution of the crisis.

    Some of the Nigerian banks ordered by the Federal High Court in Lagos to remit $793.2m, allegedly hidden with them in contravention of the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy have denied any wrongdoing.
