Lionel Messi weds childhood sweetheart today

 

   Football superstar Lionel Messi will marry his childhood sweetheart in his hometown in Argentina on Friday (today).

   The Barcelona player is returning to the city of Rosario to wed Antonella Roccuzzo, whom he met there before he moved to Spain aged 13. Argentine newspaper Clarín has called it “the wedding of the year” and even “the wedding of the century.”

Bailout loan to states extended


 
     Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has directed that the budget support loan facility to states be extended beyond a year.

   Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun announced this yesterday while briefing the National Economic Council meeting presided over by Osinbajo. The conditional budget support loan facility was designed by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016, to provide financial relief to state governments.

EFCC traces N603m to civil servant’s wife

 

  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it has traced N603m to Mrs Esther Habu, the wife of Mr Josiah Habu, who is the Director of the Bioresources Development Centre in Bayelsa State.

   Established in 2003 by the National Biotechnology Development Agency under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, BIODEC is an intervention programme of the Federal Government aimed at developing the natural resources of Nigeria for use in agriculture, health, environment and industry.

Germany Beats Mexico 4-1 to reach Confederation Cup final

 

   Germany's Leon Goretzka scored two expertly-taken goals in the opening eight minutes to set his side on the way to a 4-1 win over Mexico in their Confederations Cup semifinals on Thursday.
   Timo Werner added the third just before the hour as Germany's young, experimental team took advantage of the wide open spaces in the Mexico defence with ruthless finishing.

Osinbajo Signs Executive Order On Taxes, Assets Declaration

 

 
    The Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has signed an executive order to back the Voluntary Assets Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS). Professor Osinbajo signed the executive order on Thursday morning during the launch of VAIDS at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
