Senate Adjourns Plenary Till September

 

   The Senate has adjourned plenary till after its long vacation. The lawmakers will be resuming sitting on September 25, 2018. This comes after about 15 Senators on Tuesday defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The defecting Senators include Senator Dino Melaye, former Governor of Kano, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

   Senate President Bukola Saraki has arrived the Senate Chamber after a fresh invitation from Nigeria Police Force. He entered the chamber by 10:40 am and is currently presiding over plenary.

I Was Not Invited By Police, EFCC – Ekweremadu

 

  Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, on Tuesday faulted the siege on his home by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Uche Anichukwu, the deputy Senate president said neither police nor DSS invited him.

   According to one of the aides to Senate President, Bamikole Omosore, the Nigerian Police have blocked the convoy of the Senate President has he left his house this morning to report at the Police Headquarters after he was summoned last night by the IGP to report this morning concerning the recent Offa Bank robberies. Omisore says he was blocked at Lake chad junction and accompanied his tweet with photos. The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu's home was also stormed this morning by Police.
