WHO rejects using Africa as testing ground; It is appalling to hear this during this 21st century from scientists

 

    Tedros Ghebreyesus, head of the World Health Organisation, has dismissed as “racist” a suggestion by two French scientists that the coronavirus vaccine should be tested in Africa.

   Science professors, Jean-Paul Mira of Cochin Hospital in Paris and Camille Locht of Inserm, France’s national medical research centre, appeared on French television LCI on April 2 to debate potentials for COVID-19 cures.

Lockdown: Kwara Governor Flags Off N25k Cash Distribution To Residents


      As a cushion against the effect of the lockdown being caused by the novel coronavirus, Governor Abdulrazak of Kwara state has begun the disbursement of N25 000 to state’s residents.

NCDC confirms six fresh coronavirus cases in kwara



   The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed six cases of coronavirus in the country. The agency announced this in a tweet on Monday evening, listing Kwara, Edo, Rivers and the federal capital territory (FCT) as the affected areas.

  The NCDC confirmed two cases each in Kwara and Edo, and one case each in Rivers and the nation’s capital. “Six new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 2 in Kwara, 2 in Edo, 1 in Rivers and 1 in the FCT. As at 09:30 pm 6th April there are 238 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Thirty-five have been discharged with five deaths,” the tweet read.

World Short Of Six Million Nurses – WHO

 

  As COVID-19 captures global headlines, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned Tuesday that the world needs nearly six million nurses.

   The UN’s health agency along with partners Nursing Now and the International Council of Nurses (ICN) underscored in a report the crucial role played by nurses, who make up more than half of all health workers worldwide. “Nurses are the backbone of any health system,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a statement.
