Delta- Road Closures For 2018 African Senior Athletics Championships
The Delta Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), on Monday announced roads closure and traffic diversions from Aug. 1 to Aug. 5, for easy vehicular movement during the 2018 African Senior Athletics Championships in Asaba. The Sector Commander, Mr Rindom Kunvem, said in Asaba that the closure became necessary as part of the strategy to make the competition organised by the Africa Athletics Confederation (CAA) hitch-free.
12 Lawmakers Seek To Impeach Ortom
The political situation in Benue State took a new twist yesterday, with 12 members of the 30-member House of Assembly endorsing a move to impeach Governor Samuel Ortom. Speaker Terkimbi Ikyange, who was last week ‘removed‘ by 19 members for alleged high handedness, yesterday told reporters in Makurdi, the state capital, that the House would serve Ortom an the impeachment notice “within seven days”.

Buhari Leaves For Joint ECOWAS/ECCAS Summit
President Muhammadu Buhari will today leave for Lome, Republic of Togo, to participate in two high-level meetings. According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari Governors Ben Ayade and Abubakar Bello of Cross River and Niger States, respectively, will accompany the president to the meeting.

The agent of the importer of military uniforms into Nigeria has been detained. The unidentified agent was arrested by officials of the Federal Operations Unit of the Nigerian Customs Service Zone C, according to its Comptroller, Ahmed Azarema. The Customs men intercepted the container load of military uniforms and other items on Friday on the Aba-Port Harcourt highway.

Court Dethrones Adamawa Traditional Ruler
A Yola High Court presided by Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman on Friday voided the appointment of the District Head of Jalingo-Maiha, Yarima Wakili, by the State Government. The court ordered Gov. Muhammadu Bindow to approve Mahmud Abubakar, whose name was earlier forwarded to him for approval by Mubi Emirate Council as the selected traditional ruler.

Shunning Invitation By Police Is Disrespectful- Police To Saraki
The Police yesterday described Senate President Bukola Saraki’s refusal to honour their invitation as “disrespectful”. Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris wrote a letter of invitation to Saraki on Monday, requesting him to appear on Tuesday morning to clear himself of allegations of involvement with five principal suspects in the Offa bank robbery investigation.
